Hello Everyone and welcome to my first blog post for Greatest View! I am really excited to be here on the design team with these amazing and talented ladies! And of course who wouldn’t want to play with the INCREDIBLY beautiful products Gail has in the shop!I immediately fell in love with the fresh and vibrant colours. Especially the hot pink and teal colour combination!!! Yummmm! Talk about instant inspiration! I also think the colour combo is a perfect way to scrap a “girly” Summer layout.
For my layout “Splash”, I have teamed the fabric flowers in a cluster with the hot pink chevron badge to help balance and anchor my photo. The combined texture of the fabric flowers and the smooth badge, creates interest, an effect which draws the eye across the page and to my focal point.
Shhhh! Don’t tell anyone, but... I just want to reach out and run my fingers over the layout each time I look at it! But of course this would be the worst thing possible since all my elements are mounted onto white cardstock!! LOL!!
So, apart from that little secret... I also have another small confession to make. I love to be able to play with products and create something from them that isn’t necessarily the original intention. Do you see that white flower at the top of the photo on my layout? Would you like to know how I created it?
Well, I love to share ideas and this one isn’t really new but the tutorial is simple and it creates a very elegant and delicate effect for a flower.
What you will need is: 4 mini doilies, 1in circle punched from white cardstock, patterned paper, co-ordinating brad and adhesive.
Step 1&2. Fold the paper doilies in half and again into quarters.
Step 3. Add adhesive to the middle of the circle cardstock and attach the pointed edge of the folded doily in the center of the circle. Allow to dry.
Step 4. Gently seperate the layers of the folded doilies to create a petal-like effect.
Step 5&6. Trim a small circle of patterned paper for the flower center, add the brad to the patterned paper and adhere to the doily flower center.
Thanks for visiting . . . Leanne
